We use React for the front end when the interface needs to be fast and interactive, and Laravel with a PostgreSQL database on the back end when the data relationships are complex. For a field services company, that might mean job records that link to equipment records, crew records, and client records, all queryable in one place.

Here is what goes wrong when businesses try to solve this with generic tools: they end up managing the tool instead of managing the business. We have reviewed systems where a company spent three years customizing a project management platform until it almost did what they needed, and then a pricing change from the vendor wiped out most of the custom logic. Building something purpose-built costs more upfront, but you own it. No vendor can reprice you out of your own workflow.
