School Management System in Mountain Pass, California

We built a system for that charter network that unifies student information, attendance, grading, and parent communication in one Laravel backend with a React frontend. Teachers now submit grades from any device, parents get instant updates, and the registrar pulls accurate reports with a single click. The system replaced three separate tools and saved the network $42,000 per year in software licenses and staff overtime.

Most off-the-shelf systems force schools to adapt their workflows to the software. We do the opposite: we model your current processes first, then build the software around them. In Mountain Pass, where small private schools often rely on a patchwork of Excel files and free tools, that approach prevents months of painful retraining.

When we started with the Mountain Pass district office, their biggest pain point was student transfers. Paper forms got lost between campuses, and counselors couldn’t see if a student was enrolled elsewhere before approving a new transfer. We built a REST API that pulls enrollment data from the state system in real time and pushes it to each school’s dashboard. Now counselors see transfer statuses immediately, and the district saves 40 hours per month on manual reconciliation.

We don’t force every school onto the same stack. A Montessori program running on a shoestring budget needed mobile-first attendance tracking, so we delivered a Flutter app that works offline during field trips. Meanwhile, the district’s central office uses a web portal built in React with MySQL under the hood for reporting. The systems share data via our API, but each school gets exactly what it needs.
