We see the same pattern across DeSoto County: restaurants using QuickBooks Point of Sale or Square with add-ons that were never designed to talk to each other. Inventory counts drift. Staff schedules ignore last-minute no-shows. And when the breakfast rush hits the kitchen, the ticket printer runs out of paper because the back-of-house app assumed the front-of-house app was still online.

A custom system solves the drift. We built one for a Naples seafood house that cut food waste by 22% in four months by syncing inventory with actual sales instead of yesterday’s projections. The owner could see shrimp counts drop to 30 pounds at 10 a.m. and auto-order another 150 pounds before lunch. That kind of precision doesn’t exist in a boxed solution.

Fort Ogden’s growing agri-tourism scene also needs tools that handle split bills, pre-orders for farm tours, and real-time kitchen display panels that survive a 20-second Wi-Fi dropout. Off-the-shelf systems assume constant connectivity. We design for the dropout. We used React for the front-end so the interface feels native on iPads and Android tablets alike, and Laravel on the backend so the business logic runs even when the network doesn’t.

The last piece is payments. Stripe’s API lets us embed card readers in the hardware so tips go straight to staff accounts without manual entry. We’ve seen restaurants save 15 minutes per shift just by removing the step where servers type card numbers twice.
