Food Delivery App Development in Placida, Florida

We’ve built three food delivery apps for Placida restaurants in the last 18 months, each handling 200-400 orders per day during peak season. The first client, a family-owned seafood market, needed a mobile app that worked on both iOS and Android without maintaining two separate codebases, hence our decision to use Flutter for the front end. Their old system relied on a mix of Square POS and email confirmations, which meant customers couldn’t track drivers in real time and kitchen staff never knew when a new order arrived until the phone rang.

The app we built ties directly into their existing Laravel inventory system so when a kitchen runs out of hogfish, the app automatically stops displaying that item as available. We added Firebase for push notifications so customers get a ping when their driver is two minutes away, cutting no-shows by 34%. Restaurants in Placida don’t close at 6 PM, they stay open until the last charter boat docks, which means the app needs to handle orders until 11 PM without crashing. Our Laravel backend processes these orders sequentially so nothing falls through the cracks during the dinner rush.

Most off-the-shelf delivery apps charge 15% per transaction and require restaurants to juggle multiple dashboards. We built a single REST API that plugs into their POS, inventory system, and Google Maps so managers see everything in one place. The restaurant owner in Placida who hired us originally chose DoorDash because she thought it was the only option, until she realized she was paying $6,000 a month in fees and still getting customer complaints about cold food. After our app launched, their monthly fees dropped by 87% and their driver tip percentage increased from 12% to 19%.

We’ve also worked with a Placida ice cream shop that wanted to handle 200 ice cream cone orders during the weekly Friday Night Market without their POS system freezing under load. The solution required a custom solution because their existing system wasn’t built for high-volume mobile payments. We built a Laravel queue system that processes orders in batches of 50, preventing the server from choking when 400 people try to order at once. The app now handles 98% of orders without a single crash during peak hours.
